One month ago my printer asked me if want to do a firmware upgrade after a reboot. The question was written all over the screen with two big buttons "Yes" and "No". It was the first time my printer asked that question since after about two and a half year. After pressing "Yes" the printer was displaying the message "Ready to download" on the screen and it was not working anymore. I tried to fix that problem with the HP support without any success. HP confirmed that it is not possible to load the firmware anymore. The device is broken because I accepted the firmware update which HP offered me very prominently without any warning. The HP service was terrible - they tried to hold me on - they told me have "good" new for me because the "canceled" the repair offer which I never accepted and the confirmed me to take care about my problem but they never tried to contact me. After one month of pain I got the confirmation that they can not help me because warranty is outdated. In my opinion HP broke my device an therefore this is a liability case. If the firmware update failed because of hardware defects this probably was a hidden defect which HP is still responsible for since I never performed a successful firmware upgrade. At least HP should warn that the device may will brake during the update. I would like to warn others before performing those updates and I discourage you from buying HP products. Even I will not anymore. HP will not take its responsibility if something happens.
Best regards, D.
